THE TEAM

The 3rd Vascular Surgery Clinic of the Athens Medical Center was founded in 2019 and consists of 4 specialist vascular surgeons and 3 specialist anesthesiologists, whose specialization covers the entire spectrum of even the most complex vascular surgery conditions. The team discusses in detail all cases deciding on the best possible treatment, the safest anesthesiological protocol and the type of examinations the patient needs preoperatively as well as after the operation.

As a clinic of a private hospital it cannot by law have residents for training, which is why patients are treated only by experienced specialist surgeons. At the same time a particular team of specialist non-medical collaborators (podologists, wound managers) has been established with the sole purpose of the better and comprehensive treatment of patients postoperatively. In cases that require ulcer care or have a catheter for hemodialysis or administration of antibiotics (PICC line) a particularly specialized team of nurses has been established, who visit patients at home with the purpose of reducing the cost of hospital stay, the care of the patient in a familiar environment next to their relatives and the prevention of hospital-acquired infections.

Finally, every vascular surgery clinic of this level should research and publish the results of the treatments it provides and participate in new research protocols in order to offer our patients whatever new emerges in the treatment of vascular surgery conditions. For this reason our clinic has a special team of research assistants (study nurses) and statisticians with the purpose of the collection, analysis and publication of the results.
